I drove down to Hollister yesterday because of the weather. I wanted to shoot the mustard fields off HWY 25 with that cool sky. These mustard plants were close to 7 feet tall. I had to hold the camera above my head and blindly shoot.
Great Picture! The loan blackbird makes it look surreal with that threatening dark gray sky. The flowers of the mustard fields are so bright it makes it look like the picture is lit from below.
Thanks...I'd driven past the fields many times without a camera, but when I saw the weather this particular morning I packed the camera and hopped in the car and made the hour drive.
Do you remember when the abandoned Almond and other fruit trees were in bloom and all the mustard plants carpeted their roots, and the trees blossomed white and pink in spring. I painted a small oil of that once. A beautiful sight, and almost as haunting as your photo. I'm glad you grabbed your camera, and made the drive. Thank you!
