Pigeon Point, 50 miles south of San Francisco

The 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse, one of the tallest lighthouses in America, has been guiding mariners since 1872.

The tower stands on a rocky promontory and has long been a landmark for ships approaching San Francisco Bay from the south. This headland, and hence the lighthouse, took its name from the ship Carrier Pigeon that wrecked here in 1853.

This is also a Hostel.

Very nice shot. I love the lighting and the fact that I just learned a little something. :)
